Job Description:

  • The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • They monitor environmental conditions, conduct site inspections, prepare reports, and develop strategies to mitigate environmental risks.
  • This role involves working with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and environmental consultants to support sustainability goals and maintain regulatory compliance. Monitor environmental compliance with EPA, OSHA, and state-specific environmental regulations.

  • This role involves working with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and environmental consultants to support sustainability goals and maintain regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor environmental compliance with EPA, OSHA, and state-specific environmental regulations.
  • Conduct environmental assessments, site inspections, and audits.
  • Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste programs and ensure proper disposal.
  • Collect and analyze environmental samples (soil, water, air, etc.).
  • Prepare and submit reports (e.g., SPCC, SWPPP, Tier II, Form R, etc.).
  • Maintain permits and regulatory documentation (air quality, stormwater, wastewater, etc.).
  • Assist in developing and implementing environmental management systems (EMS).
  • Support sustainability initiatives, including energy conservation, waste reduction, and water use efficiency.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans and environmental training for employees.
  • Liaise with environmental agencies and participate in community engagement activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
  • 20+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations (e.g., RCRA, CERCLA, CAA, CWA).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental data management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience with GIS software or environmental modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or other EMS frameworks
